iewWe're pleased to announce that the myVR mMap SDK 2.0 is now available and shipping for the BlackBerry PlayBook. We've given the mMap SDK the tagline "Maps for Mobile Apps", because you can literally integrate it with your mobile application and map provider(s) of choice in just a few minutes. The mMap SDK is the fastest multi content map rendering engine on the market and supports the following data types; 2D raster maps (Map, Satellite, Hybrid), Oblique Images, 3D Terrain, 3D CityModels, 360 StreetView, 360 Panorama, GigaPixel images, and PointClouds. The SDK comes out of the box with sample integrations for 2D Map data providers such as OnYourMap and OpenStreetMap. You can add a new map provider (WMS Service) with only a few lines of code. The 3D Map render engine supports content from providers such as Blom, AAMGroup, GTA,CityVisionNetwork, in addition to 3D formats such as Collada, CityGML, and VRML.
Coupled with our Overlay API functionality - the multi-content Mobile Map display can display route mapping, thousands of POI's (Point of Interest) and be used to display information such as; public transportation, directions, retail locations, virtual coupons offers, nearby real estate objects for sale etc. The API comes with full documentation and out of the box sample source code. You can see a video demo of mMap SDK running on iOS, Android, and BB PlayBook here:
For more information, please see the mMap SDK product page. Contact us to request an evaluation version to test for your BlackBerry PlayBook, Android, or iOS development needs today!
The mMap SDK for iOS, Android, and BB PlayBook now has physics engine support for snow, rain, and sleet so you can e.g. tie in weather feeds and have the 3D CityModels and 360 StreetView/Panorama display weather conditions.

The company Holografika creates some amazing 3D display technology where their HoloVizio products shows high-3D quality images in a way that makes the presented 3D view similar to real life 3D vision.
This is possible due to the fact that spatial points of the image are addressed individually. The position of the displayed 3D object does not depend on the viewing position but it remains fixed in the space. HoloVizio reconstructs the 3D light field, the displays generate all the light beams to make the 3D view of the displayed object visible in the whole field of view.
They recently made a test of the myVR mMAP SDK for displaying 2D and 3D map content on their HoloVizio C80,and Peter Tamas Kovacs the CTO of Holografika tells us that the mMAP SDK demo sample ran right out of the box and created an awesome 3D map experienece. He was kind enough to send us sa video that showcases the experienece. The 3D city shown is Melbourne courtesy of AAMGroup. Even though the video does not do their amazing display technology justice you still get an idea on how impressive this is. Enjoy!
